Ronald Reagan and Corruption…the Truth Behind the Lies
~~~
The Republicans and the Corporate-Controlled-Media have spent the last 30 years trying to convince us that Ronald Reagan was wonderful. The reality is just the opposite…
Reagan ran the most corrupt administration of the 20th century.
By the end of his term, 138 Reagan administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations.
In terms of number of officials involved, the record of the Reagan administration was the worst ever.
It was only a few days before the nation would go over the fiscal cliff, no bipartisan agreement was in sight, and Reid had just publicly accused Boehner of running a “dictatorship” in the House and caring more about holding onto his gavel than striking a deal.
“Go f— yourself,” Boehner sniped as he pointed his finger at Reid, according to multiple sources present.
Reid, a bit startled, replied: “What are you talking about?”
Boehner repeated: “Go f— yourself.”
The harsh exchange just a few steps from the Oval Office — which Boehner later bragged about to fellow Republicans — was only one episode in nearly two months of high-stakes negotiations laced with distrust, miscommunication, false starts and yelling matches as Washington struggled to ward off $500 billion in tax hikes and spending cuts.
When elected officials talk to one another like drunks in a bar fight, everyone wins. (ht @stefanjbecket)
Two things that stand out for me that made me laugh out loud:
- I’m not a trained demographer…but I can say with certainty that: 1) This country is not getting any whiter and 2) Older people die.
- If winning an election depends on turning out a base of old, white people you are going to lose every presidential election from here on out.
Newly-discovered audio from a conference call in June captures Mitt Romney asking business owners to urge their employees to vote for him.
Romney, speaking on a call to the very conservative National Federation of Independent Business, tells a group of business owners that they should “make it very clear” how they feel about the candidates. The audio, discovered by In These Times, also captures Romney telling the business owners to “pass… along to your employees” how their jobs might be effected by who wins in November:
I hope you make it very clear to your employees what you believe is in the best interest of your enterprise and therefore their job and their future in the upcoming elections. And whether you agree with me or you agree with President Obama, or whatever your political view, I hope — I hope you pass those along to your employees. Nothing illegal about you talking to your employees about what you believe is best for the business, because I think that will figure into their election decision, their voting decision and of course doing that with your family and your kids as well.
When you know the majority of citizens, don’t support you, you go for bullying and coercion.
- The state of Texas can cut off funding for Planned Parenthood, pending a court case to decide whether state funds can be used to pay for abortions; Planned Parenthood in Texas currently does NOT provide abortions, but DOES provide other health services to low-income women and others.
- A Republican Senate candidate — who is currently a Congressman — uses the word “legitimate” to describe rape and says that the body possesses a biological capacity for preventing pregnancies resulting from rape, while yet another GOP representative essentially claims that pregnancies never result from rape or incest. Moreover, the Republican Party is (apparently) less disturbed by Todd Akin’s rape comment and more that they’re going to lose the majority in the Senate.
- The GOP is taking unprecedented steps to suppress voters — in most if not all cases, among constituents likely to vote Democratic — under the guise of combating the non-existent plague of voter fraud.
- The Republican Party’s presidential candidate won’t release tax returns that will likely prove that he has tens if not hundreds of millions in assets that he’s hiding in off-shore bank accounts — despite his own father setting a precedent that’s been followed by every presidential candidate since.
In 2008, vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin became known for a lot of things. Being a hard-rocking feminist was not one of those things. So it was no surprise that when the McCain campaign began using the 70′s classic “Barracuda” to introduce Governor Palin at rallies, the legendary sisters of
Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal (R) sent an email that referred to President Obama and the following Bible verse:
Let his days be few; and let another take his office
May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.
WHOOOAAAAAAA!!! That is some sick disgusting shit right there.
You know what the US needs right now? A good treason trial.
Would you look at that? More proof that the anti-Obama sentiment is based on racism.
South Carolina GOP Operative Suggests Inappropriate Nicknames For Pelosi
After Herman Cain called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) “Princess Nancy,” the former executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party joked on Twitter that perhaps a better nickname for her would be “The Crabby Cunt from the California Coast,” among other suggestions.
Todd Kincannon is a South Carolina lawyer and served as parliamentarian, general counsel and executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party between 2004 and 2010.
On Twitter, he also suggested that some better names for Pelosi would be “The Botox Bitch from Buggeryland” and “Nancy the Crooked Whore”
Republicans: not sexist, but the preferred party of sexists!
This asswipe should be out of a job IMMEDIATELY. Seriously, because she didn’t let a shitty bill out of committee she’s a “princess” a “bitch”, and a “cunt”? Blow me, asshole, blow me.
That dude is a damn blockhead. Pelosi got shit done as Speaker and as House Minority Leader.
